Hosting American Students in Valencia: An Enriching Experience

Hosting an American student in your home is much more than providing a place to live; it’s an opportunity to exchange cultures, broaden horizons, and share unforgettable experiences. The University of Virginia’s study abroad program, which has been in Valencia since 1983, offers Valencian families the chance to contribute to the academic and cultural development of young Americans.

Why host a student?

By hosting a student, your family will get to know American culture and traditions up close while sharing Valencian customs with them.

In exchange for providing a room, cleaning, and full board, families receive financial compensation.

Many of the students who participate in the program end up maintaining a close relationship with their host families, creating friendships that last beyond their stay.

Requirements for Families

  • Live in Valencia capital.
  • Have a single room available for the student.
  • Provide full board and cleaning support.

In addition to the logistical requirements, it’s essential that families are willing to get involved in the experience and help the students adapt to life in Valencia.
